Hi Adam,
The yellow wire is not the primary power source, those are the red and black.
The yellow wire is only a switch wire to switch the K7 on or off. You can connect this wire to the red wire during testing. If you want the K7 to switch off again, disconnect the yellow wire from your red wire.
In any case, do not use Scotch Lock connectors. These will eventually cut through your cable due to the vibration of the wiring.
Wago connectors are a good option. The best option is to solder, then you do not have to cut any cables.
