Switch live
Good morning . Im waiting on receiving my N2 system .
I have an oxford accessory junction box fitted to my bike . Which is connected to a switch live to initiate the relay to turn power on with ignition.
When fitting the n2 can I just take the battery terminals off and plug into the port on the junction box . And will i still need to connect the yellow switch live from the n2 or can I clip it onto the red live wire as the junction box is controlled by a switch live .

Hi Ken,
The most important thing is that the red and black wires (i.e., the continuous power supply) maintain a continuous power supply.The yellow wire is your control wire; it must therefore switch along with the motorcycle’s ignition.
If you do want to switch the continuous power supply, ensure that it is only switched off once the N2 is completely switched off by the yellow wire. You will therefore need to build in a delay for switching off the continuous power supply.
If you switch off the N2 while cold by removing the continuous power supply, this is a recipe for trouble with the N2.

Thankyou for your reply.
My bike is a bmw rs1250 with canbus . And all the power goes off around 3o seconds after its shut off
But to be certain and avoid any issues . Ill connect red and black direct to battery and the switch live direct into the bmw .

Hi Ken,
I own a BMW K1600GT myself. I took the switched power supply from the top case connector. I suspect this isn’t present on the RS1250. However, the license plate light power supply is also a good option.
The yellow wire draws no power, so this has no influence on the CANbus operation. Switching off can indeed take about 30 seconds on a BMW.

A tip: try soldering the connection. This is better than the Posi-Tap shown in this video.

Thankyou ill do that be easier . Id always use solder joint ans heat shrink over pozi taps etc . Less chance of water ingress etc.
K1600 wow . Was looking that them last month when my rs went in for its 18k serv . There huge lol.
Love the rs . Was very tempted to trade upto a r1250rt as not 100% sure looks wise on the new rt1300.
But decided to keep rs for another year and maybe get 1 of the last reg rt1250’s i can find .
Thanks again for your help looking forward tj getting it all and fitting. As off to Switzerland/ italy and Austria beginning of September.
