Hi All – I am wiring the K7 into my 1300GS and had put the red and yellow wires together after it came out of the Hex Ezcan ( this acts as a switched live). It does seem to want to play ball!

    Any suggestions?

    Hi john.

The red positive needs to go to the battery along with the negative the yellow needs a switched power, ie any aux fitted items not canbuz this will power up thd unit when ignition turned on, hard wired to the battery won’t drain the battery when no ignition on. The only time it will is if the unit feels movement ie if someone is tampering with the bike, this can be turned off in the app, say if you going on a ferry so it won’t drain the battery, ive just fitted the k7 to my Honda Crosstourer and no issues, I found a switched 12volt lead not canbuz and is fine.. if this helps.. cheers

    Hi John,
The yellow wire really needs to be connected to a switched power supply. The red and black wires to a constant power supply.
If you connect the yellow wire and the red wire together and let them switch, you will definitely have problems. Videos will not be closed properly when the K7 is turned off. The SD card can become corrupt and your K7 can also cause problems.
The Parking mode will not drain your battery. This is also protected so that if your battery voltage becomes too low, the parking mode is automatically switched off. With a normal battery, you don’t have to worry about a flat battery. I leave both my K3 and K5 on my K1600GT in parking mode for a few weeks. The alarm system is also on. After 4 weeks I can still start without any problems.

Thanks. I will wire it straight to the battery. I was hoping to utilise the EzCan. 👍

    Hi John,
I have heard from several Innovv users on the forum that accessories such as the EzCan cause problems. I recommend always connecting the Innovv cameras directly to the battery.
I hope this is the solution for you too.

I’ve connected my K3 via EzCan. Runs without any problems. Some years ago I have made a short guide on how to connect the K2/K3/K5 to cansmart, which also applies to the K7.

The drawback using a cansmart adapter for powering the K7 is, that you can not use the parking mode, but you are safe against battery draining.

If you want to use parking mode, you could connect the red and black wire to the battery and only the yellow wire to cansmart to get switched power.
