If that latest firmware release has been removed by INNOV, I am now concerned there may be issues with it, Hans. Hopefully not.

As per the update instructions, the first two steps are what will catch many out. I agree that if you have a PC, this step should be easy. However, I, like many others, now use only an iPad as my “computer”. You can not format a card to FAT32 on an iPad, even if you have a third party card reader. I had to dig out a very old PC (luckily I still had one), which, as it turned out, had a faulty card reader in it. Also not everyone has a 32Gb memory card lying around.

A firmware update should not be this hard. This is where INNOV need to bring their update process to a more flexible level that all customers can use with ease. After all, INNOVV is not a cheap, knockoff product.

Hi Hans,

It appears the K7 is now working as it should, with the latest V.04 firmware upgrade and my 256Gb card installed. I can see all movies and photos.

It was a bit of a saga to do this though. I had to purchase a new 32Gb card….all my other cards are 64+. I also had to purchase a USBC memory card reader as my inbuilt PC memory card reader was not functioning. Then there was the issue of sourcing the latest firmware version from INNOVV to download. The version provided in their “how to download” section was from 24/07/05 V.03, not the latest V.04…..where did you find that version?

So I loaded my new 32Gb card via my new USBC reader onto my PC. I then formatted it to FAT32. I then copied the IN file that I created yesterday on my PC onto the memory card. Luckily I kept that IN file, as I could not find that latest V.04 version anywhere on the INNOVV site. I inserted the 32Gb into the INNOV K7 and it recognised the IN file and upgraded the firmware. I then reinstalled my 256Gb card into INNOVV and all looks good.

As someone who worked in IT for 40 years, with the last few at very senior levels, I can honestly say that INNOVV’s firmware update processes “stink” (that’s a technical term😆😆😆). It really needs to be reviewed and updated as a matter of urgency. Customers should not have to go through what we just have. My Garmin GPS automatically checks for any map or firmware updates via an available local network when powering off, and implements them before powering itself off. It is not that hard.

What a saga, Hans. I only have 128 and 256Gb cards, so the creation of the firmware file on the recommended 8-32Gb card was always going to be “iffy”. After formatting a 128Gb card, creating the Bin file via my iPad didn’t work as INNOVV didn’t recognise a Bin file.. I then tried on my PC….guess what, my memory card reader on my PC (I haven’t used it in 5 years), did not recognise the memory card so I couldn’t download the Bin file anyway. Last try, I downloaded the Bin file from the PC to a portable device, uploaded it to my iPad and copied it to my reformatted INNOVV memory card. It still didn’t recognise the Bin file.

I gave up then, and thought I would simply remove the card from INNOVV if I needed to, and access videos/photos that way. I then double checked everything to make sure it was still working, and guess what……I could see the videos and photos on my iPhone via the network, even though I was still running on earlier firmware. I think the issue was as simple as the retailer telling me that the 256Gb file had been formatted to INNOVV format, when in fact it had not, and me formatting the card before trying to create the Bin file addressed the issue. I can’t think of any other plausible reason for the “fix”.

I still have to perform the firmware update, but that can wait till another day. I’ll see if anyone has an old 16 or 32Gb card lying around. Thanks very much for your efforts…..they are very much appreciated👍

Hi Hans,

I have no issue playing the videos on my iPad direct from the memory card, so the format is OK. It is simply that nothing is showing under any category on either my iPhone or my iPad when I connect direct to the INNOVV via network connection. My network connection is obviously fine as I would not even be able to access the full settings menu if the network connection wasn’t stable.

I looked in both Camera files and Local files, and nothing appeared.

I didn’t check in the Accident file, but I will today, just in case.

I don’t believe I have any issues with my network connection as my iPhone is showing a connection to INNOVV…….(you can’t access any of the INNOVV menu items on the iPhone unless the network connection is active to the camera, and I can access all menu items).

With my iPad, I simply removed the memory card from the camera unit, plugged it into my iPad, and it showed all the videos and still photos that I took on my test run, so I know they are on the memory card, and the memory card is working in the INNOVV.

I’ll keep searching for a wrong setting or network or other conflict of some kind. At least I know I can get at the videos if I need to by removing the card and opening it on my iPad, but I would much rather simply download relevant videos to my iPhone in situ via the INNOVV network connection.
