new K7 , getting very hot
hi , just bought a brand new k7, still to fit on my bike . I just powered on to test everything’s ok and it is , it works properly. I left powered on a couple of hours right now and I noticed that the lower side is hot like hell , I mean you risk to get almost burnt, is this normal? The power supply is telling me that in this condition it absorbs 0.5A, is it a normal value?

Hi Renato,
The case can get quite warm. The case also acts as a heatsink for the electronics.
Therefore, it is important that a free airflow can blow past the case.
Especially in warm weather conditions, good cooling is important. Additionally, with a higher bitrate and resolution, the processor has to work harder, thus drawing more power and getting warmer.
In the manual, you can see in the specifications that the working current can be 0.6A. So if you measure 0.5A, this could be correct.
But if the case gets so hot that you burn your fingers, that shouldn’t be the case.

oh thanks for your reply, yep , considering that 0.6A what I read is correct. Today I measured the temperature , I really thought more , but the value I got is 45C , which is high , but acceptable. I found the right spot on my bike to fit it in straight contact with the frame and I also ordered a couple of M2 SS2 heatsinks which have the perfect size for the K7. So I’ll give it a chance. i have the same problem. if I turn WiFi 5G on, the case degrees between 50 to 60 C.
That’s a problem, if the manufacture is assemble a low-cost 5G Modul.
Buy two passive heat sink and mount it on both outsides of the case.Best wishes and always have fun with your motorcycle.

yep, that’s what I did and it works . Back from more than 9K km ride in Norway , no problem with the dashcam , so far so good. thanks.
