So, have K5 which worked great for 2 years then rear camera stopped working. Disconnected .. reconnected.. still didn’t work. Put new card in. Still didn’t work. Disconnected all from DVR. Reconnected and no lights and DVR got very hot. Unable to locate problem(s).

    Hi Tom,
It is possible that the camera has become defective. After all, it is technology that can fail.
Is the front camera still recording properly?
Check if the camera itself shows any damage. Are all connectors still intact, clean, and dry? Check if the rubber ring is still present in the connector; this prevents moisture from entering. Also check if the camera cable is still intact and not pulled too tight.
Is the rubber seal behind the SD card slot cover also still present?
Did you not experience any issues with low battery voltage? Low battery voltage can cause the firmware to malfunction. This is easy to fix by re-flashing the firmware.

I’ve had my rear camera fail twice, and each time it caused different DVR issues—like the front camera not recording consistently or the rear camera not recording at all. I ride my bike off-road, so it’s exposed to a pretty harsh environment. Once I replaced the rear camera, all the problems went away.
