    Hi Tom,
It is possible that the camera has become defective. After all, it is technology that can fail.
Is the front camera still recording properly?
Check if the camera itself shows any damage. Are all connectors still intact, clean, and dry? Check if the rubber ring is still present in the connector; this prevents moisture from entering. Also check if the camera cable is still intact and not pulled too tight.
Is the rubber seal behind the SD card slot cover also still present?
Did you not experience any issues with low battery voltage? Low battery voltage can cause the firmware to malfunction. This is easy to fix by re-flashing the firmware.

I disconnected and re-connected all cables to DVR. Now there’s a new problem. No lights on Remote. Seemed like no power however after riding 30 miles back home from my friend’s house the DVR was hot to the touch and there were still no lights on the Remote. 3 hours after I had shut off the bike the housing was even hotter I disconnected main wires to battery. After about 45 minutes the housing had cooled down to normal temp. Not sure where to start. What could possibly be wrong? Disconnected all lines to DVR. I’m thinking to reconnect DVR and battery and see if the remote lights up when ignition is turned back on. If it doesn’t where do I start. If the remote remains blank and the DVR starts to heat up again obviously I’ll need to disconnect power from battery again. But where do I go from there. Should I try to “reflash” or “reset” the DVR and if the Remote is still dead, how would I even do it?

I’ve had my rear camera fail twice, and each time it caused different DVR issues—like the front camera not recording consistently or the rear camera not recording at all. I ride my bike off-road, so it’s exposed to a pretty harsh environment. Once I replaced the rear camera, all the problems went away.

I’ve got a new rear camera ordered. Hoping that will solve that problem but I may have a new problem that the camera may not solve. Remote not lighting up and the DVR getting very hot – see my previous comment.

        Hi Tom,

It is normal for the DVR to get warm; the housing acts as a heatsink for the electronics. And getting warm means that it is still safe to touch.
However, if the DVR becomes too hot to touch, that is not good. Especially if the motor has been off for quite some time, the DVR should not heat up any further. So, there is definitely something wrong. I cannot determine whether this is due to a camera or the DVR. This will be a trial-and-error situation.
On the other hand, if the K5 is still under warranty, you can claim it fully under warranty.
