RC6 blue led on controller blinking rapidly after yellow wire grounded
Posted by Frank on 2026-11-04 at 23:53As per title, all connections are ok and checked. Software has been updated. Recording does not follow the on off switching anymore. Even with yellow wire connected to ground, rear camera stays warm for extended period

Hi Frank,
The yellow wire should not be connected to the ground.
The yellow wire must be connected to a switched power source—in other words, a wire that receives power when the ignition is turned on and loses power when the ignition is turned off.-
Hi Hans,
Let me explain: the yellow wire is connected to a switch. This switch is connected one side to the battery (direct) and the other side to ground. So I would expect that when the yellow wire get’s the battery tension, the unit switches on and when the yellow wire is connected to ground, the unit switches off. What I see now is the following: switch is on battery tension: unit switches on but recording does strange things: recording not starting, random recording, etc. When switch is on ground position: blue led on controller is blinking rapidly. The power supply of the unit (red wire) is connected to the same battery.

Hi Frank, I’m a little confused by some things you say, but mostly, your use of the word “grounded”. I take it that you are connecting the yellow wire to a separate switch that you have installed yourself, rather than connecting to a ‘switched live’ somewhere in your bike’s wiring harness?
If so, there is no need for anything to be “grounded”, which in technical terms means the same as ‘earthed’. The yellow wire is simply a signal carrier to let the main unit know that it needs to turn on.
So, in your case, you have one wire coming directly from the battery to your switch. I assume that this wire is connected to the Positive (+) terminal on the battery? The yellow wire needs to be connected to the other side of your switch. So, when you turn your switch ‘ON’, power goes from the battery, through your switch, then down the yellow wire into the main unit.
Remember, this yellow wire is simply carrying a very low power signal to let the unit know that it needs to turn on. It is not powering the unit. But there is no need for anything to be “grounded”, so that is what is confusing me from what you have posted.
When you turn your switch ‘OFF’, it interrupts this low power signal and so the main unit turns off. I hope this helps?
When the rear unit stays hot it is because it is running and recording constantly. This, again, suggests that your switch is not interrupting the power signal from your battery’s Positive (+) terminal to the yellow wire.
For your problem of erratic recording, “unit switches on but recording does strange things…”, how often do these things happen when the system is connected to your phone via WiFi and when it is not?
