  • Advantages for each video format

    Hi all,

    Greetings from Australia.

Just installed a K5 on my 2019 FJR1300. Took my time doing all the wiring correctly and it was basically an easy install. Everything worked straight up. Phew!

I’m now exploring all the features and have a few questions.

There are 2 selectable video formats, ts or mp4. Is there any advantage or disadvantage in going either way? They both play on my iPhone, iPad and windows pc. Is there a performance or storage slant to help determine which is best for me.

Similarly, is there any downside to selecting 10. Inute loops.

    Warm regards

    Jim

    Hi Jim,

One of the differences is that if an MP4 recording isn’t closed properly but is interrupted by, for example, a power outage or an accident, it might no longer be playable. A TS recording can still be played. And in the case of an accident, the last moments of a video recording can be crucial.
The quality of both file types is the same. The file sizes won’t differ much either. Incidentally, MP4 is a more widely accepted file format and is therefore supported by more devices as standard.

You can adjust the 10-minute loop under ‘Recorder Settings’, under the ‘Loop Recording’ option.
