Are the cameras for the N1 identical to what was used in the K3? Reason I ask is I just received an N1 for my Can-Am Spyder and it has a K3 installed already. If I don’t have to re-route cameras, I would just leave the existing K3 cameras in place.

    Thoughts??

    Hi Phillip,
The cameras of the N1 and the K3 have different connectors. These will probably not fit together.
In addition, the CMOS (heart of the camera) is also different. I suspect that you cannot interchange them. The K3 CMOS is a Sony Starvis 291. The N1 has a Sony Starvis IMX307.
So you will have to Google yourself whether these are technically interchangeable. Whether the firmware of the N1 is suitable for this….. I suspect not.

Your assessment is accurate; though the N1/N1-Pro have a published max resolution (somewhat misleading as it is the only option) they are currently hardcoded to work at the specific resolutions/fps of the included cams and cannot dynamically or manually adjust to a different camera feed. I attempted to attach my FLIR camera to it (because I presumed they would support lower resolution options as the K series did). After many frustrating hours (assuming I had messed up my custom wiring), I confirmed with support that the N series currently only supports the specific parameters of the included cameras.

Thanks for the reply. I figured there were positive changes in the N1 vs. the K3 so I will just drag a pull string through when I install the N1 on the Can-Am. The Can-Am is very packed under the handlebar area and one needs small hands to get in there. Have a safe and Happy New Year.

    Hi Phil,
Good luck with the installation of the N1.
If the installation is successful, could you post some pictures? This might help other Cam-Am Spider drivers install their N1.

    Have fun with your N1.

Will do. The Can-Am is easy to work on but there are some tight spots that hands don’t really fit. LOL
