I just bought a K6 and thought I’d check it all works ok before installing it by connecting it to a 12v battery on the workbench. It all seems to work ok and I can view and retrieve recordings via the app. I did notice however that the front camera gets quite hot after a few minutes of operation, the rear camera also gets warm but not as hot as the front – is this normal?

The camera and DVR will get warm when running. The metal case acts as a heatsink. Once on your motorbike there will be a constant flow of air to help dissipate the heat.

I have recently used my K6 in Southern Italy with no heat issues.

The front camera contains the processor, and it gets warm.

The front camera can certainly get warm at a high resolution and bitrate setting, but not hot. You must be able to touch the front camera with bare hands at all times.

Thanks Hans, that sounds about right. Yes “hot” is subjective, it didn’t get so hot that I couldnt hold it. Looking forward to getting it fitted to the bike now that I know it’s working normally.
