  • Constant buzzing/parasitic noise on audio recording

    Hi everyone,

I recently installed an INNOVV K6 on my bike. While the video recording works perfectly on both front and rear cameras, I am having a persistent issue with audio recording.

    Problem description :

There is a continuous parasitic/buzzing noise looping in the background of all audio recordings. This happens constantly, even when the bike is completely stationary and in a dead silent room.

    Troubleshooting already done :

+Checked the microphone opening: completely clear and unobstructed.

+Tested all audio recording gain levels (from Level 1 to Level 4; default is Level 2) — the noise persists on all settings.

+Tested multiple independent power sources (different power banks and USB adapters).

+Tested the unit unmounted (held in hand, off the bike and bracket) to rule out mechanical vibrations or electrical frame interference.

    Attachments provided :

+ Short sample video demonstrating the exact noise issue (file resolution reduced for upload size, but audio is original).

Has anyone experienced a similar issue ?

Is there a known fix (specific firmware, grounding/filter trick), or could this be a defective internal mic ?

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions 😉

    Hi Shayne,
Have you tried a different bitrate/resolution yet? And what if you detach the rear camera?
I also have the fast ticking sound and the soft buzzing sound underneath with my K6.
My experience is that as soon as you start riding or the engine starts, the sound is completely drowned out by the ambient noise.

    Hi Hans,

Thanks a lot, your reply put me on the right track 🙂

It turns out the noise is caused by Wi-Fi interference. The buzzing/ticking sound appears when the Wi-Fi connection with the smartphone is active.

Since I don’t need to connect my phone during regular rides, it’s not a dealbreaker for daily use.

By default, the K6 broadcasts its Wi-Fi for 3 minutes upon startup (and Wi-Fi cannot be completely turned off in the settings), so I reduced the standby timeout. I will check on my upcoming rides whether the noise is present during the initial boot broadcast or only during an active data link with the smartphone app.

Either way, knowing the root cause solves the mystery. Thanks again for your help 😉

      Hi Shayne,
      Thanks for the feedback.
It was indeed the interference caused by the Wi-Fi. I had completely forgotten about it because I’ve had my Wi-Fi timer set to 3 minutes for a long time now. I only review the footage when there is a good reason to do so. Additionally, the sound on the K6 isn’t super audio. So I had already accepted all the clicks and hiss.
And with the motor and wind sounds, you won’t notice it anymore.

      Have fun with your K6.
