  • Damaged DVR?

    Hello everyone

Could you help me please, because I have had a Dasch Cam K2 since 2021 (Removed from the new INNOVV site in 2024 and former member), on which I made a handling error by connecting a wire to the + the battery (For another accessory), of which I accidentally touched the metal body of the DVR which was near the battery, causing a small spark…๐Ÿ˜ณ

Now the DVR no longer turns on, knowing that the converter fuse has not blown?

But I have doubts that the DVR is damaged, in relation to the 12v converter LED and these various connection tests noted below.

    1) Motorcycle contact OFF = fixed red LED – (Instead of blue)

    2) Motorcycle contact ON = LED flashes Red/Blue – (Instead of blue)

    3) Motorcycle contact ON (Test) by disconnecting the permanent + = Red LED

    4) But by unplugging the 3-pin aluminum plug, the flashes are still identical on the converters, with all the connectors connected (motorcycle contact ON as well as OFF)? ๐Ÿคจ

Do you think the DVR is dead, or is it the converter that was damaged, even if the fuse didn’t blow?

Thanking you in advance for your responses โœŒ

    Hi Rick,
It may also be that the red LED indicates that your battery voltage is too low. What happens when you start the motorcycle (I don’t see this in your test)? Then the on-board voltage should be higher (above 13V) and the red LED should go out and the blue LED should come on.
Can you turn on the K2 by pressing the button on the DVR?

    Hi Rick,

the first test I would do is powering the DVR by USB. Just use normal wall charger for smartphones with at least 2A. If the DVR starts up, chances are good that the DVR is ok and that only the power module got broken.

    Hello Hans and Marc,

    @Hans,

Yes the battery is OK, I took my multimeter to check different connections as well as the battery in the 2 engine phases.

I also tried to restart the DVD using its central button, with a short and long press (You never know) and, apart from a very brief mini WIFI flash, nothing else.

@Marc, thank you for this information, I will try, I really haven’t thought about it and will report back whatever the result.

Thanks a lot you two ๐Ÿ‘ โœŒ

    Good morning Marc,

Bingo, conclusive test with a USB socket, the DVR is turned back on…๐Ÿ˜…

The cost will be much lower to change the 12v converter… ๐Ÿ˜Œ

    Thanks again for your help!
