  • Double-sided tape recommendation – high temperature

For K6 users who live in temperate climes, this may not be a big deal. For desert nomads, it is a big deal. The double sided tape that comes with the product is strong enough to hold the smaller, lighter rear camera in place. Not so with the front camera. I am trying to avoid bolting through a plastic panel.
‘Any suggestions for a tape that is stronger in high temperatures than 3M VHB?

    Hi John,

I have had good experiences with the 3M VHB tape in warm/hot conditions.
But then it’s not just a matter of quickly sticking it on and hoping it stays put.
I thoroughly clean the surface where the tape will be applied. No grease or other dirt should be present. I then warm the surface thoroughly with, for example, a hairdryer. I also warm the tape. Then stick the tape and press firmly for a while. Only then do I place the part to be glued on the tape with the same cleaning/heating actions. I also ensure that there is no mechanical tension. So do not tighten the cables too tightly, causing the camera to pull on the tape.
Unfortunately, I have only had lesser experiences with brands other than 3M.
