Download from K6 using a USB cable connected to PC/Laptop
Is it possible to directly download from the camera without removing the SD card? When I tried connecting a USB adapter cable i.e. USB-A male to female to the camera power/data cable, then USB male to PC/Laptop, the card does not appear as a drive in Windows 11 File Explorer. The only way to download the files reliably and quickly at the moment is to remove the card from the camera, which works fine but is a nuisance as you have to constantly undo the two screws securing the connector to the camera and this breaks the seal on the silicone O ring every time, which will eventually wear out. Using the camera wifi is too slow given the size of the video files.
I suppose I could replace the two slot head screws securing the cover with knurled cheese head screws so they could be undone by the fingers, but this is not very satisfactory.
Has anybody downloaded from the camera using a cable??

Hi Stephen.
Unfortunately, the only way to download direct from the camera is to remove the rear plate and plug your PC directly into the USB connector beneath the camera. So not much of an improvement…
I agree it’s a bit of a design flaw.

Downloading the video files via Wi-Fi is indeed not fast. Therefore, connecting the laptop directly to the K6 via Wi-Fi will not result in any speed improvement. The K6’s Wi-Fi is the limiting factor.The fastest way is to insert the SD card into your computer and download the video files that way.
If you remove the back of the K6 and connect a USB cable directly to it, you won’t see a USB drive on your computer as long as the K6 is turned off. If you turn the K6 on (your USB port must be able to supply sufficient power), you will see a USB drive and can download the video files that way.

Many thanks for your very quick reply – I actually found an earlier reply you gave to someone asking the same question. Even though you have to remove the connector cover as you would to access the SD to remove it, it is still easier to connect a USB-C to USB-A cable to the internal data connector as you don’t have to pop out the SD and put it into a reader or adapter and then insert it into your PC/ Laptop. It saves wear and tear on the card slot, although I guess the silicone O ring will wear out eventually. Has anyone sourced replacement screws that can be undone with the fingers so you don’t need to carry a small screwdriver to get the screws out? I was think of knurled cheese head screws, but goodness knows where to source them!

I found these thumbscrews on Amazon, they are M3 x 8mm, exactly the same size as the standard crosshead screws, but have a nice knurled top so they can be done up and undone using your fingers. I also found some fully stainless steel ones, I have ordered those as well to see which is best. I think the black plastic heads will be more discreet. I will upload a photo when I have fitted them.

This is how I have the K6 front camera mounted on my Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. There is free access to get at the connector cover when I have the thumbscrews installed.
