Hi, not being the most tech-savvy person on the planet can anyone help me with viewing files on a laptop?

As I don’t want to have the motorcycle ignition on to view files (and it takes forever to download this way) I’d like to view them on my Chromebook. I’ve connected it to my Chromebook using the supplied cable from the DVR but nothing appears, and I don’t see any notification that the lead has been connected via the USB port. Any ideas?

You can’t connect the K6 to a laptop.

You have to remove microSD card and plug that into laptop.

You may need a card reader to connect the two.

    Hi Steve,
Could it be that the USB cable is just a power cable and doesn’t have a data connection?
Try using a USB cable that you’re certain also has a data connection.
By the way, your Chromebook should also be able to supply enough power for the K6 to boot.
I’ll check with my own K6 one of these days to see if I can connect it directly to the computer with a USB data cable.

    Hi Steve,
I’ve done some more testing with the K6.
If you use the USB cable connected to the K6, you won’t have any data transfer. It’s only for power.
If you remove the back of the K6 and connect a USB cable directly to it, you won’t see a USB drive on your computer as long as the K6 is turned off. If you turn the K6 on (your USB port must be able to supply sufficient power), you will see a USB drive.
The only advantage of this last option is that you don’t have to fiddle with removing the SD card. And you don’t need an SD card adapter.

Thanks Hans, that’s a big help. I’ll try that this week. 👍
