Front Camera small metal plate

Hi Peter,

I still have one of the first K6 versions myself; it doesn’t come with a plate like that.
I’m guessing that it goes on the back of the connector, so on the cable side. It could be a modification that prevents the two screws from easily falling out of the connector. But as I said, it’s just a guess of mine. So it’s a matter of trial and error to see if this is the case.

My K6 that I bought recently from Sportsbikeshop here in the UK (very decent price, £164) did come with that plate. I assumed it was to reinforce the back cover and to allow the two M3 x 8mm screws to clamp down properly without distorting the plastic cover. I mounted it with the cutout facing down, so gap at the bottom. It still fell off when I was doing my install, but luckily I saw where it fell! It should have been made captive really, it is nuisance that it falls off so easily. Especially as you have to constantly remove the cover to access the SD card or to plug a data transfer lead into the USB-C internal port. I think I will modify the plate to stop it falling off. I am replacing the standard screws with thumbscrews so I don’t need a screwdriver every time I remove the cover.

Thanks Stephen 🙂. I’d come to that conclusion and you are right about both the fiddley nature of that plate and the small screws which keep dropping! I’ll have a look at your solution.
