Install ThirdEYE in BMW R1250RT with photos
Hi,
After a recent close call, I decided to install the ThirdEYE system. Another post described the process well but I need pictures, so I created this document. I can’t get the photos inline with the text because of the formatting settings of this forum. Instead, I uploaded a pdf with high quality images for each step.

Thanks for the detailed installation description. Other R1250RT riders will be able to make good use of this.
Regarding the annoying buzzer, my experience is that you don’t hear it at all while riding due to the wind noise around your helmet. I also wear ear protection. Even when I am standing still, I don’t hear it. On my bike, the main unit is tucked away under my seat (K1600GT).
Did you aim the radar higher? Because in the photo I see that it is pointing quite a bit downwards. I aimed it almost straight back and this works very well. See also my photos under my profile page.-
In the final result, the sensor is horizontal or a few degrees down. Works great on the road.
One quick question; does the sensor have a plastic cover that needs to be removed? The Mirror LEDs have a cover and the sensor appears to but I don’t want to damage it if it does not.

Hi Jeff,
On my unit, there was a very thin plastic protective film on the radar unit. This could be easily pulled off. This film was only on the radar itself, so the square part. I suspect yours still has it on. In the photo, it looks like there is a bit of air under the protective film in the top left.
