Issues connecting to H5 with Android phone
Posted by harleypauluk on 2025-02-25 at 19:33I have taken delivery of my H5 unit but cannot seem to be able to connect to it via the app. I have a Samsung S23 Ultra and when I try I get the message “connected without internet”. The INNOVV instructions mention about making a change to my phone for WLAN but on my phone there is no option to do this. Has anyone else come across this at all? If so, how did you get it resolved?

Hi Paul,
When you connect the H5 using Wifi with your phone, your phone sees this connection as the access route to the internet. But the H5 is not a connection to the internet, it is only a ‘hotspot/wifi’ connection to your H5. This may be the reason why your phone is reporting that there is no internet connection. After all, your phone (Android) is constantly looking for a connection to the internet.
Connection to the internet is only necessary if you want to play downloaded videos in the app and you want to see your track playing ‘live’ on a map (e.g. Google Maps).
The Innovv instruction is only applicable to iPhones. This is because iPhones sometimes have trouble making a wifi connection to the Innovv cameras. -
So maybe there is another way to connect if you have an Android phone. I have been speaking to their support but not getting very far so thought I’d reach out here so see if anyone has managed to get it to work on an Android phone

Hi Paul,
You can click away the message ‘connected without internet’ without any problems. If you then look at your wifi connections you will see that you have a wifi connection with your H5.
Are you using the right app? Innovv has its own app for the H5. This app is also called ‘Innovv H5’ and has a black logo. The Innovv app with the red logo is for the other Innovv cameras.
If you still can’t get a connection, let us know where the problem is, possibly post print screens and explain what you have already tried. -
Thanks for the response. That is exactly the issue. I was not using the H5 app. Will download now and I am sure it’ll give me what I need. Thanks so very much for your help.

Thanks Hans for your help.
I downloaded the H5 specific app and all is connected. I really appreciate your help with this.
All the best

Try forgetting the Wi-Fi network and reconnecting. Also, check if your phone is switching to mobile data automatically—this might stop the connection. Turning airplane mode on and off could also help!

Pixel 9 Pro here (Android 15) with the same connection issue from the app.
I get the “Connect to camera Wi-Fi” prompt, click “Accept” and then connect to the cameras wi-fi. The app prompts to connect again (even though I’m already connected) and just keeps looping between the prompt and the Android wifi-connect screen.
I’ve made sure the wi-fi has “remain connected even if no internet” option is on.
I’ve even tried turning on airplane mode (wi-fi camera connection only) with no luck.I’m not sure if this is an Android 15 unique problem, but glad Innovv has forums to discuss possible solutions.
If you’re still reading, I also confirmed my Pixel gets the IP address 192.168.1.10 from the camera Wi-Fi, and that the camera itself is pingable at 192.168.1.1. Seems the app just can’t understand how to communicate on the wifi network interface.
Also made sure I have the latest firmware installed on the camera, the alternating red/green lights are useful to know it applied successfully.-

Looks like the dedicated Innovv H5 app did the trick for me as well. Sorry for the noise, I’ll leave my post up in case it helps someone else.
