K6 USB, no auto power on/recording ?!

Hi Simon

If you have installed the K6 on motorcycle, you should be using the supplied power converter. This way the camera will start and stop recording with the ignition switch.

The Red cable needs to wired to be a permanent Live. The Black cable needs to be wired to a permanent Earth. The Yellow cable needs to be wired to a Switched Live.

Also, you would still need to manually stop the recording before power is disconnected in order to finalise the video file.

Why make such a product? It does not say anything on your website that the behavior is different on the USB version. I am quite sad about this.

Any digital camera will need to be stopped recording before power is removed. Otherwise files can’t be written and finalised correctly and so cards can become corrupted.

Hi Simon,

The USB version is intended to be connected via a power bank or something similar. So, for example, when mounting it on a bicycle.

With a USB power supply, the K6 does not start up automatically. After all, there is no switched power supply present to serve as a trigger for startup.

When mounting it on a motorcycle, you can use the DC converter to connect the power supply. With this DC converter, the K6 does start up automatically if the DC converter is connected, as clearly stated in the user manual.

My bike works exactly as my motorbike. When I switch it on, the USB powers up. Very normal. The camera just fails to start.

That converter you are showing cannot be used for my camera. I do not have a plug for the 3-pin connector(1). Only a plug for rear camera, and a USB-C plug.

You made this camera for a power bank ? Show me 1 customer who runs these cameras from a power bank. It does not make any sense to me. And even if you run it from a power bank, why does it not start recording automatically ? When you connect it to the power bank it is because you want to go riding, so it would be much better if it just starts immediately.

Hi Simon,

I am one of those users who uses it with a power bank. Additionally, I also use one with a DC converter in my car.
The fact that you have to turn on the K6 manually with a USB version is also a reminder that you must turn it off manually as well. Because if you remove the power supply before the K6 is turned off, the last recording running might become corrupted and unplayable. The SD card could also become defective as a result. Think of the K6 as a small computer; you also have to shut it down properly before removing the power. The DC converter takes these actions off your hands. That is to say: ignition on, K6 starts automatically. Ignition off. The recording running is terminated correctly, after which the K6 is switched off properly.

@INNOVV , perhaps it is not entirely clear on the website which version you are adding to the shopping cart when ordering a K6: the USB version or the motorcycle version (i.e., with DC converter). Is the DC converter included as standard or not?
