K7 will not shut down
Posted by Peter on 2025-12-27 at 22:53A question for the hive.
I purchased and installed a K7 last March and it has been working perfectly until last week.
It will work as required when the ignition is on, but when I shut the bike down the K7 also shuts down but comes back to life and begins recording again after about 15 seconds.
I have reset the unit, I have updated the software, turned off the parking monitor and I have reinstalled the whole system. I could not find any damaged cables nor connections.
The only way I can stop the unit from turning on without the ignition is taking out the direct live’s fuse, but then the system will not work with ignition on.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Pete

Out of curiosity try disconnecting the yellow wire. This should only have power when the ignition is turned on.
If this stops the issue it. You could have a power feed to it accidentally feeding it when turned off, ??

Hi Peter,
I’m thinking the same thing as Martin.
Try disconnecting the yellow wire to see if the K7 switches off correctly. If so, measure the voltage on the yellow wire when the ignition is turned off. There might be a residual current flowing somewhere, causing the yellow wire to remain live when the ignition is turned off.
Are you not using a Thunderbox, HexezCan, or something similar to power the K7?
Where did you connect the yellow wire? -
Look forward to your investigation results. Its the only simple thing I can think of.
-
I have tested the switched live(yellow) wire which is connected to a switched USB under the seat, and there is zero power running through it with the ignition on.
With the yellow disconnected the K7 still records with the ignition off.
I have now contacted Innovv with, what I think, will be a warranty claim.
I will keep you posted on their response.
Thanks for the replies.
Pete

With the ignition on the yellow should have power.
off = no power to the yellow.
But please let us know the result.

Yes, ignition on and yellow connected there is power, but only if I have the direct live connected too. If I disconnect the constant live then the unit will not record or turn on.
The USB that the switched live is connected to does have power with the ignition on.
I can only think it is a unit fault.

Hi Peter,
It’s true that K7 wouldn’t turn on if the constant positive wire was disconnected. Switching on/off is handled by the yellow wire.
The red and black wires must remain connected to the battery at all times.
I don’t quite understand how you connected it so that the yellow wire only receives power when the red wire is connected. If you switch the red wire, this is a recipe for trouble. -
As I said in the OP, up until a few days ago it worked perfectly.<div>
I am more than capable of this simple install, and it is wired correctly.
I have done nothing to it mechanically to change any of its settings.
I have been caught in some torrential rain recently, but not for the first time.
Ergo it is a fault.

Innovv has agreed there is a fault and I am exchanging it under warranty.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for the feedback.
Good to hear that Innovv handled it properly and resolved it under warranty. -

Hi Jean François,
Before I answer your question, a comment on your message:
If you want a quick response, please ask your question in English. After all, English is the working language on this forum. You are asking for help from us, so we ask you to make some effort to translate your question.

Additionally, for a question that has nothing to do with the current topic, it is better to create a new topic. This keeps the forum organized for other forum members. In answer to your question, the yellow wire must be switched. See also the K7 manual. If you connect the yellow wire to the red wire, this is a recipe for trouble.

Hi Jean François,
I don’t know which document you are referring to. Please provide a link…The attached screenshot is unreadable.
If you are unsure about connecting the K7, please connect it as stated in the manual. Connect the red and black wires to the battery and the yellow wire to a switched power supply. Connecting via power accessories that are not properly configured often causes problems that could have been avoided.
PS, could you please take another look at how you post messages? Due to the many formatting characters, it is almost unreadable.
