  • Microphone – location and waterproof?

Posted by David on 2024-10-23 at 17:30

I’ve just wired my K7 into my Yamaha XSR700 and all seems to be working relatively well. Two questions:

    1. Is the microphone waterproof?

    2. Is there a preferable location to mount it? I’ve clipped it to the cable of the rear camera, which sits near the rear right indicator. Audio on the recordings sounds good and clear, but it’s exposed to the elements, and I wonder if this is an issue over the long term.

I can address location and I’m hoping Hans knows for sure if the weatherproof rating applies. I located mine forward under the bars.

My thought was it can be clipped to your jacket to narrate a ride.

I’ve not used it that way yet, but it would pick up my screams clearly in an accident, as well as comments from the driver as he stands over my lifeless remains. Hang on, I’ll not be near the bike… oh well….

That’s what I assumed when I noticed the clip on the microphone. Sadly my commutes are too dreary to warrant much commentary.

        “Dreary” is good, safety wise!😉

Innovv confirms the microphone IS waterproof except for the sponge, of course.

    Hi David,
    The microphone is waterproof.
I mounted the microphone on one of the handlebars myself.
This way the microphone is more protected against rain and wind noise.
The clip is meant to attach the microphone to your jacket so that you can record your own commentary when using an open helmet.
