Red light
Posted by Peter on 2026-10-13 at 02:09I just bought and installed my new N2 for BMW in the original craddle on my BMW 1250 GS 2022. It looks good and works fine. The only thing i dislike a lot is a bright red light in the right upper corner. There is no option in the menu to turn it off. Is there an other way to turn of this irritating light?

Hi Peter,
I don’t have an N2 myself, but rather an N3; on that model, you can turn off the LED by going to Settings (the gear icon) and selecting the ‘More’ option.
In the N2 manual (the standard version, not the BMW one), the only mention of a flashing red LED indicates a problem with the SD card. You might want to check your SD card. Are the recordings being made correctly? -
Hi Hans,
Thanks for your help!
This is the N2 version for BMW. Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to connect cameras to it, and there is no “More” option in the settings menu.
Also, the red LED light doesn’t flash; it stays on continuously and is quite bright, which is rather distracting at night.
Because of this, I’m thinking about returning the unit.
Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,
You could also direct your question straight to Innovv. You can do this via this link: https://innovv.com/pages/contactAfter all, Innovv doesn’t always monitor the forum. They will undoubtedly be able to give you a definitive answer regarding the red LED.

Hello Hans ,
Thank you for your response. I have since been in touch with Innovv, and this was their response:
“Hello, we apologize, but the red light in the upper right corner is an indicator light and cannot be turned off.”
So apparently there is no solution for it, which is a shame. I tested the device yesterday. Yesterday was a sunny day, and with sunglasses on, the screen is very difficult to read and even a bit dangerous. Yesterday evening, the brightness of the screen was perfect, but the red light was very dominant.
Of course, I could put a small black sticker over the light, but unfortunately, that does not change the brightness of the screen. I think my conclusion is that I will be returning the device soon.
Kind regards from Grunn,
Peter

Hi Hans,
I returned the N2. If I’m already annoyed by that red light and the low brightness of the screen, the frustration will only grow. I understand you have the N3 for BMW, how do you like it? Is the screen bright enough and there are no annoying lights?
Greetings,
Peter
