Hey all. I’m brand new to this K5. Install 90%, I just have to tuck in the wires if it all checks out.

2018 HD Street Glide Special. Steady blue when I turn the ignition on, then after a bit, steady red. Steady red when I turn it off, then the camera indicator blinks fast and the GPS comes on, then off. Light goes back to steady blue. Nothing on the wifi. I didn’t connect the yellow wire, is that required? SD card installed. I also can’t get the app to connect to my starlink internet. Ugh.

    Hi,

Yes, the yellow wire is required. It tells the K5 when the ignition is on and when it is off. That is why the yellow wire must be connected to a circuit that only supplies 12V when the ignition is on. Otherwise, the K5 wouldn’t know when to turn on.

Regarding the app. It does not need to connect to the internet, but to the K5. When the K5 is running, you will see a wifi named something like “Innovv_K5”. Connect to it using the password 12345678. When connected, you can open the Innovv app to configure the K5.

    Hi Oscar,
By the light, I assume you mean the LED on the DC converter.
If it lights up red, this means your battery voltage is too low. Definitely too low to activate parking mode. Check your battery voltage with a multimeter when the ignition is off, on, and when the engine is running. Idling speed can also result in a voltage that is too low, so measure when you have a somewhat higher RPM.

The yellow wire is definitely needed; it switches the K5 on and off simultaneously with your motorcycle’s ignition. See the user manual for details.

The app must connect directly to the K5. The K5 acts as a kind of Wi-Fi hotspot. Therefore, you do not need to connect the app to your home network/internet.

Thanks Hans. Now, the panel camera and wifi indicators are lit. How do I get the wifi to flash?

    Hi Oscar,
The Wi-Fi LED will blink if:

    • the rear camera is disconnected (so this is not a normal situation)
    • the Wi-Fi connection between the phone and the K5 is broken.

So if the Wi-Fi LED is lit continuously, there is an active Wi-Fi connection between your phone and the K5. It is up to you whether you want to keep this active or not. In principle, you only need the Wi-Fi connection if you want to change settings in the K5 or if you want to download videos from the K5 to your phone.

I never connected it to my phone, as I never saw the K5 network show up as available. I’ll keep plugging along. Thanks.
