  • Thirdeye “Watch” version now only display both alert lights

Hi all, I wonder if anyone has encountered this before. On my Guzzi V7 I have a thirdeye watch version installed, it’s been on about a month and has been fine, in fact really impressive. However over the last day or so, it’s developed a fault where by it does not display individual alert lights, no matter what side a vehicle approaches from, it illuminates both alert lights.

It also seems to be picking up “ghost” alerts now to. I’ve checked my connections and wiring and all looks well, it’s powered by a Healtech Thunderbox.

Any advice or information would be welcome

    Kind Regards

    Tony

    Hi Tony,
Is there any dirt on the radar unit?
Are all connectors still properly connected and is there no moisture in them?
Has anything changed on the Thunderbox that might be causing the 3Eye to receive insufficient power?

I will grab my multimeter and check the Thunderbox output, I’ve checked the sensor cleanliness and it seems to be positioned exactly as it was before the issues started. It’s a strange one as it was perfect and I was really impressed with it.

I’ll report back in after checking with the multimeter, thanks for the reply Hans.

I just thought I needed to follow this up with a reply. After much toing and froing with support, sending pictures of my install, being offered a replacement, then being told “wait, check this, a tech spotted this, etc etc etc” I finally got them to swap out the radar unit itself. I’ve switched it out, there was no damage to the original, no damage to the wiring, but thus far the replacement is working perfectly.

Support where quick to reply, but I did “feel” that they were trying to pin it on my installation, and anything other than a hardware fault. I was arguing that it had worked perfectly, so if some part of the install was interfering with it’s field of view, that would have been an issue from day one.

Anyway, all is well that ends well, and I’m still happy with the unit, and overall OK with the customer service as they did the right thing in the end and swapped it out.

I’ll post up some pics of the install on a Guzzi V7 if anyone is interested.

    Hi Anthony,
Thanks for the feedback, it’s appreciated. This also allows us to hear how things went.
Good to hear that it all worked out in the end and that you now have a properly functioning system again.
There will undoubtedly be Guzzi V7 riders, now or in the future, who would be interested in photos of the installation. So photos are welcome.
