Which WiFi
Dearest collective mind 🙂
I have today, bought an N3 for my BMW motorcycle; the key reasons being its ability to function on my GS and my Triumph (keeping it simple) and the quality.
I am however, a little confused about the initial set up.
The device wants a WIFI connection, but is this to my home WIFI or is it like the Innovv dashcams and it is a WIFI connection between the N3 and my iPhone? (or is it both?)
I have tried to connect the N3 to my phone via WIFI, but when I add the default password (12345678), nothing much seems to happen and the phone WIFI icon does not show to indicate a connection and I cannot see anywhere in the setting to confirm either way.
Similarly, I tried to connect it to my home WIFI, but again, noting obvious to say that this was either right or wrong.
I have moved to Innovv from another (lesser brand) of device, which could connect to both my phone WIFI to broaden the connection bandwidth or my home WIFI for updates etc.
I’ve checked the downloadable user manual and the one in the box, but I think they are a little ambiguous.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Christopher,
The N3 requires your home Wi-Fi network for a firmware update.To adjust settings using the Innovv app and download videos to your phone, you need to connect your phone to the N3’s Wi-Fi network. This is therefore the same as with the other Innovv cameras.
iPhones sometimes have trouble connecting to the Innovv cameras. The advice is to put the iPhone in airplane mode and then manually establish a Wi-Fi connection with the N3.

My N3 is the BMW version without cameras. I have a separate Innovv system for the cameras (a K7 I believe).
So, I will only need WIFI for firmware updates.
Isn’t it odd that some ‘other’ systems need BT and WIFI.

Hi Christopher,
If I tested it correctly with my N3, you need both the Wi-Fi connection and the belltooth connection to use CarPlay/Android Car.
But it is possible that I was mistaken about that; I only recently started testing the N3 and still need to mount it on my motorcycle, so it has only been a workbench setup up until now.
