    Hello,

I would need your advice please, as the K2 no longer exists, I ask this question on the K3 forum but the problem does not necessarily come from the model.

I have been using this equipment since 2020, without any wifi connection problem, my problem is recent because I have just changed my mobile and still on Android.

I downloaded the INNOVV application whose interface changed at startup then, wifi connection without problem, then asks me for the code which is 12345678 by default, I took the opportunity to put another code, so far everything is fine.

After things get complicated, I tried to reconnect and when I wanted to enter the INNOVV configuration or others no automatic connection, it asked me for authorization then brought me back to the INNOVV wifi connection, but it was blocked, impossible to open it to enter the password, which normally should no longer be requested in automatic connection?

So to the right of the wifi link, there is the little cogwheel to enter the link configuration, I have to enter the password but the one to open my laptop screen… in order to view the INNOVV password that I changed and which is correct.

I also tried to uninstall the application, I found the old INNOVV K2 application, but the problem is exactly the same?

Do you have any idea on this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rick,
Have you formatted the SD card and reinstalled the K2 firmware?
The firmware can be downloaded here https://innovv.com/pages/k2-firmware
It could be that after 4 years the SD card has become corrupted by all the read and write actions. This could also affect the firmware.
‘After things get complicated’, what happened then that made it complicated?
‘I have to enter the password but the one to open my laptop screen’, are you trying to connect with your laptop and not with your phone?
Have you tried giving the app all rights on jetefeloon? Settings – apps – Innovv – permissions.

    Hi Ans!

Thank you very much for this feedback!

Yes yes, the card had been formatted and by the INNOVV application with my old phone about 1 month ago, K2 firmware reinstalled of course, an operation that I do on average 4/5 times a year.

This SD card is about a year old, it is the 3rd since 2020, I use it on my PC by a USB key, only for looping videos with Dascam Viewer and for the firmware if necessary.

For all the rights and others of the INNOVV application, yes I tried to put everything, moreover in 2020 for my first K2 download, I had never had this type of request for rights, the connection had worked immediately!

I admit that I don’t really understand anymore, should I start all over again, but the problem, no longer having access to the INNOVV settings, no longer possible to reformat the SD card…

What do you think, is it an application problem or a malfunction of my SAMSUNG GALAXY model phone?

    Kind regards

    Rick

    Hi Rick,
Do you have the possibility to test with another Android phone? This is to rule out that the problem is with your phone.
If I remember correctly, you can also perform a reset with the button on the DVR. Hold this button for about 10 seconds. I think everything is then reset to factory default. It is possible that the wifi code is not reset this way.
You can format the SD card in your computer. Format it as FAT32. As soon as everything works again, you can format the SD card again with the app.

    Hi Hans

Yes good idea, I’ll try with another phone by the way my wife has exactly the same model so…

Indeed, there is a big button on the DVR, but I never really knew what its main function was, so I’ll try that too and then continue as you told me, we’ll see.

Thanks again for your quick answers 👌

    Hi Rick,
    Hi Hans,

for me the error message looks like the app does not have the correct permissions to access the wifi network. So a setting within android. I am not familiar with android, but according to the symbols on the upper bar, you’ve put the phone to airplane mode. Are there settings within android to allow or forbid an app to access the wifi network?

There is an easy way to check whether your phone is connected to the K2 wifi or not. Simply open up the browser and try to access http://192.168.1.254
This is the web server of the K2 and you should see a simple web page if everything is connected.
Means: If the web page shows up, but the app still complains about permissions, it is an android problem.

    By the way:
The big button on top is only for switching the K2 on or off, not for resetting. The reset button is on the side, pushable with a needle. But pressing the reset button does not reset the wifi password. This can only be resetted by installing the firmware.

    Regards,

    Hi Frostie and Hans,

    Thanks for these answers

Due to lack of time, I only got back to it today, I haven’t tried it with my wife’s identical phone yet, but for your information, before changing phones, I already had an old Android (Galaxy 2012) which was quite limited by the way, but whose connection worked wonderfully, so I don’t think it’s a problem under Android.

Currently the only thing I have done is to act on the central button of the DVR following Hans’ information, I have not tried the reset on the side, which I have just read now on your explanations 😉

The wifi ”Not secured” of INNOVV is detected on my phone so everything is normal, but as soon as I want to enter the settings page or the live video or the recordings, the information page of INNOVV opens indicating a wifi connection problem…

If I click on this information page of INNOVV where is displayed among other things the image of a phone, I have this first message (Photo of my 1st email) and which systematically brings me back to the settings of INNOVV which are in my phone, where everything is checked “Accepted”, to authorize the application.

I had never had this request before on the old laptop, concerning this message on the photo, only sometimes the wifi problem page, the time it connects.

For the SD card on PC, the recordings are present, so I’m not sure that reformatting and putting the K2 link back will change anything?

There I admit that I don’t really know what to think, apart from this problem of wifi not recognized by the INNOVV application on this new phone.

Should I try as you notified me, a reset through the small hole on the side?

Is this a problem following the new password (But correct in the wifi settings), replacing the factory one, knowing that I had changed it just before replacing the phone.

    Kind regards

    Rick

    Hi Rick,

The wifi ”Not secured” of INNOVV is detected on my phone so everything is normal, but as soon
as I want to enter the settings page or the live video or the recordings, the information page of
INNOVV opens indicating a wifi connection problem…

Technically, the app really does the same as a web browser. If you hit the “settings” button in the app, it tries to open the URL http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=3002 to read all settings of the K2. There is no authentication. No password, nothing, nada.

If the app isn’t able to retrieve the settings of the K2, there could be the following reasons:

    – You are not connected to the K2 wifi
    – You are connected to the K2 wifi, but your phone does not know how to reach the K2
    – The OS on your smartphone does not allow the app to connect to the K2
    – The webserver of the K2 isn’t running (very, very, very unlikely)

To narrow down what is the reason of the issue, we should try to find out step by step.

    1) First install the latest firmware. This way we make sure that a) all settings are set back to default (including the wifi password) and b) we talk about the same settings.

    2) Start the K2 and connect to its wifi with your smartphone. It should ask you for the wifi password (which is 12345678 be default). If you phone says it is connected, check if your phone got an IP address. Supposably 192.168.1.1
If you got an IP, go to the next stop. If not, disconnect from the K2 wifi and delete it from your phone. Then try again connecting.

    3) Start the browser on your smartphone and open the following URL
    http://192.168.1.254
You should then see a simple web page like in the attached photo.

If it does not show up, but you get an error message like ” web server not reachable” or something like that, this could be due to a routing problem. In that case, simply put your phone in airplane mode or disable mobile data and try again.

If this web page shows up, it means:

    – You are successfully connected to the K2 wifi
    – The web server of the K2 is running
    – The OS of your phone knows how to reach the K2

    4) Now try the INNOVV app. If the app still claims that it can not connect to the K2 or is missing permissions, the source of the problem is the app or the OS of your smartphone.
We could then take a deeper look at it.

But before doing that, please do the steps mentioned and report back.

I still have a K2 myself here on the desk and an older android smartphone for tests.

Should I try as you notified me, a reset through the small hole on the side?

Pressing the reset button does reset all settings back to factory defaults, exluding the wifi password. This can only be resetted by installing the firmware.

    Hi Frostie,

I’m getting back to you because after testing today, in relation to your suggestions, here is what came out.

I checked the wifi connection and it is well recognized by my phone and in its settings on the date notified of the day with the URL 192.168.1.254.

I formatted my SD card in FAT32 on my PC.

Then from my phone, I entered the INNOVV application and after several attempts after systematically accepting the message ”Please confirm your WIFI connection to the camera” I was able to open the window in the center of the application to access the parameters of the various settings, then I formatted my SIM card again.

Subsequently, I downloaded the K2 bin file from my PC via its Internet link.

Then, I reconnected to INNOVV with my phone, and only after about ten attempts, I was able to re-enter the INNOVV settings, then the live viewing of the cameras, but, I had absolutely nothing, no visual, as well as in the window to access the files normally saved.

What I could also see in the settings of the Wifi connected to INNOVV, is that the password that I had changed as indicated in my previous emails, remained the same and never returned to the factory data 12345678, despite the formatting of the sim card?

Since then, impossible to reconnect even if the innovv wifi recognition is well recognized.

For information, I tried again with my old android phone, which worked perfectly before, the problem became identical too??

On the other hand, I have 2 observations.

    Information on the converter LED

    1) When the motorcycle ignition is off = blue LED lit steadily. (Normal)

    2) When the ignition is on = flashing blue LED even after the DVR turns on a few seconds later.

DVR = Permanent flashing and in this order: Wifi – Camera and GPS.

    3) When I turn off the ignition: Converter = LED on fixed red.

    4) Then when the DVR turns off in turn = fixed blue LED of the converter.

Sometimes on the DVD the WIFI does not turn on at all, just the flashing of the camera, forcing to restart by the ignition or also by disconnecting the fuse of the converter, to restart the whole.

    What do you think?

    Best regards

    Hi Rick,

what I read from your mail is:

    – Wifi seems to work, but the App does not connect most of the time

    – Flashing the firmware seems not to work, as the wifi password did not reset

I am still unsure whether the problem comes from the K2 itself or is an issue with the App/phone. So I would like to first addess the problem flashing the firmware.

… the password that I had changed as indicated in my previous emails, remained the same and never returned to the factory data 12345678, despite the formatting of the sim card?”

Formatting the SD card has nothing to do with the wifi password.

To flash the firmware, do as following:

    – Put the sd card into your pc and format it in FAT32

    – Put the firmware file into the root folder of the sd card and make sure it is named K2.bin

    – Insert the sd card into the DVR and start it up.

    – Wait for the flashing process to finish. You can find a video of how the leds will look like while flashing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDCpff1fOWk

For your other issues, I would like to get some more information of your K2. There is a special firmware which enables a logging feature. With this firmware installed, the K2 will write its console log to the sd card while running, which would give me some information about what might be wrong on your K2.

You can find the firmware on my dropbox, where I also saved all original K2 firmware files

    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/82b33wi8gwou5hi0z3xvl/AGonZ-ZPHGP1AFN8zS_QV6A?rlkey=gpt272tdm3719a6z4mzpxe76c&st=7och5f8l&dl=0

The Logging-Firmware is called “K2-V71_with-Logging.bin”, which must be renamed to K2.bin when saved on the sd card. It can be flashed as decribed above.

When flashed, simply start the K2 and try to connect to it, like you did the last days. After that remove the sd card, but the logging files in a zip and share it with me.

When done you can flash the latest original firmware (V70), which you will also find in my dropbox.
