  • Will not record with 256Gb Card

Posted by Mike on 2026-05-26 at 09:35

    I Purchased two Samsung PRO Endurance 256 SD cards Class10 U3 V30.

The K3 seems to refuse to record with them, with the camera light on the remote repeatedly flashing.

I have updated the firmware and it appears that with small SD cards the system seems to behave correctly.

Are there any undocumented limits to the K3 in regards to SD cards? And what is the SPECIFIC recommended working large capacity cards for the K3?

Memory costs being outrageous now, I’d like to only repurchase cards once.

    Hi Mike,
The SD card meets the specs set by Innovv. The K3 can handle SD cards up to 256GB and requires at least a U1 (UHS Speed Class 1) or V10 (Video Speed Class 10) rating or higher.
Did you format the SD cards using the Innovv app? If you format them using the computer, the K3 might not work well with the SD card.
The green camera LED, how often and how fast does it blink? This can give an indication of what is happening. See the manual as well.
So, the fact that the green LED might blink is normal? Have you already checked if you are missing any recordings or if they are stored in the Accident or Protected Videos folder, for example?

The card was formatted exactly as the now two working small capacity cards were. one card is a Class 4 PNY 8GB, the other is a Sandisk Ultra 32GB Class 10. All were formatted Fat32 on a Macintosh, then reformatted in the unit using the iPhone App. More oddly the Large Samsung 256GB even worked to update firmware, but the K3 doesn’t want to write to it.

On the small capacity cards the file system is laid out correctly and FAT32 maximum length MP4 videos record fine.

On the Samsung PRO Endurance the file structure builds, but a single pair of 0KB MP4 files are saved, and the camera icon flashes.

Doing some research it appears the Pro Endurance has an odd write spec to it in order to ensure data which makes it act unusual for a Class 10 U3 card, are you certain the Samsung PRO Endurance 256GB is a Supported card?

Can you give me either the FULL spec requirements, and a list of VERIFIED tested cards in the 256 and 128 GB size that are KNOWN to work with the K3? Because it seems to work fine aside from with this particular model of 256GB card.

    Hi Mike,
For the SD cards that Innovv recommends, I refer you to the Innovv webshop. If you search for Samsung here, you will find the SD cards that meet the requirements set by Innovv.
