  • Is my K5 Dead?

Bought a used K5 from another motorcyclist recently and had it installed in a shop. Upon getting the bike home we cannot get it to work at all. The “camera” light on the remote just blinks continuously…but we’ve tried different SD cards and the result is always the same. There is no wi-if connectivity to the DVR either. When holding down the control button for 10+ seconds there is no indication that anything has changed (was hoping it would factory reset, but there’s no lights or anything to suggest activity). Have tried SDs with the firmware file and a couple of times the “GPS” and “wi-fi” lights blink furiously for a second and then it returns to the flashing green “camera” light. Power is as it should be, and the attempts to access the unit have been done with both the engine off (ignition on) and with the engine running. Same outcome every time. Any suggestions as to how to get it working?

I have the same plobrem I tested different cards check if the camera works without a card or you can get over Wifi. I also have a second K-5 camera there the rear camera stopped working , I bought a new rear camera and same thing , I think the K-5 model is much defective than the K-3

    Hi dear,

    Thanks for your sharing.

Please help to troubleshoot the problem:

Step 1, disconnect the power converter and power the unit with a USB power bank(5V, 2A or more). Please don’t use the usb port on the motorcycle.

Step 2, please connect the converter again, take out the SD card then turn on the ignition to see if the K5 can be powered up or not.

Step 3, if the problem is not resolved by step 1 and 2, please disconnect the REAR camera, and switch on the ignition to check if the K5 could be turn on or not?

Please send the result to email [email protected], so our service team could follow it asps.

Anyway, it would be helpful if you could send us videos of it.

    Best wishes,

    Jade

      Hi Jade:

I powered the K5 using a power bank…same result: continuously flashing green “camera” light on the control.

I reconnected the converter, took out the SD card…same result: continuously flashing green “camera” light on the control.

I disconnected the rear camera…same result: continuously flashing green “camera” light on the control.

I know you said “to see if the K5 powers on”…but other than the flashing camera light there’s no other signs of life…and no wi-fi connectivity/option either.

I’ll copy and paste all the above to the email you gave. There’s no point in me sending more videos of the flashing light unfortunately.

      Thanks,

      Keith

Hi, I am having the same issue. I have tried the same “troubleshooting” tips but still the same result.

Is there an update on this?

Installed new and was working for a year then suddenly stopped. Changed cards several times.

Update: My issue is now resolved.

I used a portable power pack (5v/2a output) to provide USB power & did a firmware update.

*Note: it didn’t work until the 3rd try.

        Hi Tony,
So the problem was with the power module?
