    Ich habe jetzt gerade die K7 nicht greifbar, um es direk zu testen. Bei allen Innovv Kameras ist es aber so, daß das Drücken des Knopfes dazu führt, daß das aktuelle Video im schreibgeschützten Ordner abgelegt wird.

    Vielleicht liegt das Mißverständnis darin, daß Du davon ausgehst, daß die K7 die letzten drei Minuten sichert. Das tut sie NICHT. Es wird immer der aktuelle Clip gesichert.

    Heißt also:

    Irgendwas interessantes passiert. Du drückst 10 sec später den Knopf, dann speichert die K7 das aktuelle Video im Ordner. Wenn allerdings 5 sek nach dem interessanten Ergeignis (und damit 5 sek bevor Du den Knopf gedrückt hast) die K7 einen neuen Clip begonnen hat, dann wird dieser neue Clip gespeichert und nicht der mit dem Ereignis.

    Es kann also durchaus passieren, daß man einen Clip speichert, den man gar nicht haben wollte und dafür der Clip, den man speichern wollte, nicht im gesicherten Ordner landet. Das habe ich schon vor Jahren bei Innovv bemängelt und vorgeschlagen, daß man, je nachdem wo man sich gerade im aktuellen Clip befindet, die Kamera auch den vorherigen oder den nachfolgenden Clip speichern soll. Dieser Vorschlag hat aber keinen Anklang gefunden.

    Hi,

    ich verstehe deine Frage nicht so ganz. Die Kamera startet doch mit dem Einschalten automatisch mit der Aufnahme. Inwiefern kann sie dann mit einer Aufnahme beginnen, wenn Du den Knopf drückst?

    Knopf drücken heißt, daß die Kamera die aktuelle Aufnahme in den geschützten Ordner legt.

    @Hans

    > In general, the experiences with Thunderboxes, exCan here on this forum are not positive.

    I can’t agree with that. I’ve connected my K3 with an EzCan and it works without any problems.

    @LukeC

    The reason why cour SD cards gets corrupted all the time is quite simple. As you connected the yellow and the red wire both to the same power source, you did not give the K6 time to shut down properly when the ignition is switched off. Means the K6 was still writing to the SD card when you cut off power. If this happens when the K6 is currently refreshing the FAT on the file system, it gets corrupted.

    The yellow cable simply “tells” the K6 whether it should start (Ignition is on) or should shut down (ignition switch from on to off).

    That’s why the manual says that red an black has to be connected directly to the battery, while the yellow cable needs switched power. This way the K6 always has power to shut down properly. The shutdown takes around 10-15 seconds.

    You COULD use tools like Thunderbox or EzCan, but then YOU have to make sure, that the K6 gets power for at least 20 sek after the voltages has dropped at the yellow cable.

    At EzCan, for example, you can configure this in the software. I don’t know whether the Thunderbox can do the same.

    Marc

    I can’t say why they set the default for loop recording to 1 minute. Perhaps because when the camera places some videos in the protected folder, they only take up one minute each instead of several minutes. But I really don’t know.

    What’s the best setting?

    To my experience, the G-Sensor setting, which saves the video to the protected folder, does not work reliably and produces too much false positives. So I switched it of. Means I will never have any video in the protected folder, which could take up space. And I sometimes want to create a video of a ride. So I’ve set the loop time to maximum, which is 5 minutes.

    One hour of riding equals to 2GB of video. So with a 256GB card I can ride more than 10,5 hours before a video gets overwritten. Plenty of time to copy important videos to my computer.

    Now I get it. You thought about some way of syncing the settings instead of setting them directly. That’s not possible. I see that this would be a convenient way to get used to the different settings and the app, but technically such kind of automatic syncing is difficult to implement.

    For example, the app would has to connect your phone to the camera automatically as soon as it sees it. Now imagine your phone is in range of your home wifi AND you K5 wifi. Would you really want the Innovv app to disconnect your phone from your home wifi just to check whether the settings of your K5 has changed or not? I guess not, most of the time.

    At the beginning, you will of course change the settings more frequently to find YOUR settings. But after that, you won´t use the app anymore. Only to check a video.

    Hi Paul,

    well…you could connect your K5 via USB to your computer to copy the files. But as USB at the K5 isn’t faster than 5GHz wifi and you have to remove the sd card cover anyway to access the USB port, it would be easier/faster to remove the sd card then.

    Ehhh….How do you suppose to connect your mobile to the camera, so the app could access it, if not by wifi? Bluetooth would be an alternative, but its range and transfer rate is lower than that of wifi.

    Sorry, I don´t get your point.

    @Hans

    At least at my iphone this doesn’t seem to work anymore. I can access the web page of the K7, but if I try to upload the firmware file via “upload files”, the safari browsers fails, stating that the network connection has been interrupted.

    At the K2/K3 this way worked without any problems.

    Ok. There is a serial shell on the DVR, where you can see the live logs and send commands directly to the system. To connect a computer to the DVR you would need to solder three wires onto the board and connect them to an USB-UART. The USB-UART will then give you a serial interface to which you can connect using any terminal programm (e.g putty).

    An USB-UART is something like this..

    https://www.amazon.com/JESSINIE-USB-TTL-Port-Module/dp/B0B1HYCN34?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.CSvbRnsV5iHwg102ioxwnhwqy5fjPCLNoZP_19eNjRwEqn6E6AX0crsLrjI03xrh64sKlIOBksq8ga9UQ0aQhmqo896WkBQMm8lghT9NcHXjijLW4nhkKmbfjsQDDrpjWKUfsU2mBrLwLz6_YFv_tygdqrdHvslNzXTDGwO8a43CVKO1YvAcyNnwiyxffQnm6w2pPmSs9wR1NA4vaW-KBjTPi7obcAQc3NJWIIenDlU._5vHy0tehsZYSfTBeiwX6FJ6rCo8q0nL5FCt0rnmY2U&dib_tag=se&keywords=usb+to+uart&qid=1751467631&sr=8-6

    If you are able (and willing) to do the soldering, I can send you a picture of where to solder the wires.

    Hi Philipp,

    hmmm…sometimes hardware simply dies. And often enough it is something simple, like a broken joint somewhere on the board. But I assume you don’t want to dig any deeper in that, in view of the age of the K2.

    Hi

    Sorry Hans to have to correct you. None of the cameras of the K2 are used as wifi antennas. The wifi antenna of the K2 is right within the DVR.

    @PhilBuck

    For the K2 to start there needs to be at least the front camera connected. Without a camera connect to the F Port, the DVR will continously reboot it its efforts to find the missing camera.

    Chances are that your firmware got corrupted and you simply need to re-install it. The bootloader for the update process requires the sd card formatted in FAT32. Any other format will not work. So the best way is to take a small sd card, format it at your computer (which should use FAT32 at a card this size), put the firmware file in the root folder and give it a try.

    If this still does not help, I am afraid that your K2 has died. There is still a way to find out what’s going on, but that requires soldering at the board and some computer knowledge. It would not be worth the effort for such an old dashcam. Though the K2 was a good dashcam when boosted by my firmware 🙂

    That’s all correct .

    One small hint.

    > 5 change any camera settings in app

    > 6 disconnect Android from K6 wifi and connect to my home wifi

    After changing the settings, you should close the settings before disconnecting from the K6. Reason is, that when you enter settings, the DVR stops recording. When you close settings, it re-starts recording. So if you disconnect while being in the settings, it might happen that the DVR does not record. But that is only relevant if you start driving right after changing the settings. After the next restart, the DVR will record automatically in any case.

    2025-06-03 at 05:29 in reply to: K5 Quit working / Found the Fix

    To my experience (mostly from the old Innovv forum, where more people were active than here), there are two main reasons for a camera to get broken.

    Moisture
    Sometimes due to a bad sealing, but also due to usage of a power washer.

    Broken cable

    The individual wires in the cable are very thin and so are the solder points. The bend protection on the housing of the camera is only a bend protection, but no special protection against twisting of the cable. People often lay the cable first and then, when everything is done, turn the camera in the correct position and twist the cable right at the housing. This puts a strain on the soldered joints and can lead to a broken connection. So it is important to mount the camera in the correct orientation first, then fix the cable near the camera and THEN lay the rest of the cable.

    Hi Martin,

    if you want the K7 act more like an action cam, there is the cumbersome solution of laying the yellow cable to the front and then connecting it to switched power via a switch on the handle bar. This way you could start and stop the K7 when needed. It is not a record/pause function, but the result is the same.

    2025-05-28 at 16:05 in reply to: R1300 GS – Yellow wire

    I’ve connected my K3 via EzCan. Runs without any problems. Some years ago I have made a short guide on how to connect the K2/K3/K5 to cansmart, which also applies to the K7.

    The drawback using a cansmart adapter for powering the K7 is, that you can not use the parking mode, but you are safe against battery draining.

    If you want to use parking mode, you could connect the red and black wire to the battery and only the yellow wire to cansmart to get switched power.
