Turns out: While firmware v1.7 broke the LED option, if you apply the OTA firmware update v1.7 which exists NOW, the issue is repaired.

Like a sucker, I’ve been assuming that with an error in v1.7, the update/fix would be in a file with a newer version number. Not so!

After posting yesterday I decided to disconnect the battery and reformat the SD card.

I also reinstalled the app.

It is now showing correct time.

I am having the same problem in Australia with the time stamp.

This is since moving the K7 into my newer bike and then doing the firmware update.

It turns out the noise is caused by Wi-Fi interference. The buzzing/ticking sound appears when the Wi-Fi connection with the smartphone is active.

Since I don’t need to connect my phone during regular rides, it’s not a dealbreaker for daily use.

I also have the fast ticking sound and the soft buzzing sound underneath with my K6.
My experience is that as soon as you start riding or the engine starts, the sound is completely drowned out by the ambient noise.

Thanks Hans, that sounds about right. Yes “hot” is subjective, it didn’t get so hot that I couldnt hold it. Looking forward to getting it fitted to the bike now that I know it’s working normally.

It seems that EXIF information is mostly missing from the photo and video files that are stored on the SD card. What I am looking for is a quick way to get to the GPS coordinates without having to open the file and look at the watermark.

The front camera contains the processor, and it gets warm.

The front camera can certainly get warm at a high resolution and bitrate setting, but not hot. You must be able to touch the front camera with bare hands at all times.

The camera and DVR will get warm when running. The metal case acts as a heatsink. Once on your motorbike there will be a constant flow of air to help dissipate the heat.

I have recently used my K6 in Southern Italy with no heat issues.

Any digital camera will need to be stopped recording before power is removed. Otherwise files can’t be written and finalised correctly and so cards can become corrupted.

I just bought a K6 and thought I’d check it all works ok before installing it by connecting it to a 12v battery on the workbench. I understand the concept, but when I ordered it through H. from INNOVV on email, I was also not informed about how it was working. Also it does not say on the website, and it still does not.

This is why I assumed that it worked like K3 and K5.

I resolved my problem by pretty much doing three things. Step one – find the bad camera – one camera had a kinked wire coming out of the camera – that wire was broken causing the WIFI not to function. Replaced camera – WIFI started working.

But to find out if WIFI is working, disable the cell signal and disable all auto join WIFI signals…

That’s just not how the K6 works.

Also, you would still need to manually stop the recording before power is disconnected in order to finalise the video file.

The USB version is intended for cycles, not motorcycle.

My bike works exactly as my motorbike. When I switch it on, the USB powers up. Very normal. The camera just fails to start.

That converter you are showing cannot be used for my camera. I do not have a plug for the 3-pin connector(1). Only a plug for rear camera, and a USB-C plug.

If you have installed the K6 on motorcycle, you should be using the supplied power converter. This way the camera will start and stop recording with the ignition switch.

The Red cable needs to wired to be a permanent Live. The Black cable needs to be wired to a permanent Earth. The Yellow cable needs to be wired to a Switched Live.

So, I bought this dashcam to be an install and forget solution, but unlike my K5 it does not power on and start recording automatically, which is useless to me.

Anyone who has hacked the camera and found a way around this ? Is the motorbike version also with a USB port inside ? Because then the “ACC” must have a pin.
