I have no experience with the K7 myself, but purely based on specifications I expect that the K7 should record better video than the K2. The K7 allows 2K resolution, the K2 has a maximum FHD resolution.
When I play your video I cannot choose a higher resolution than 1080p HD. Was the video recorded in 2K or in 1080? 1080p HD is then equal to the maximum resolution of the K2. What quality of video do you get if you choose 2K/30FPS? Okay, EIS may not be possible, but you should get better resolution. Try making recordings with different bit rates with this setting.
Where do you get the bitrate data from? I only see ‘low’, ‘normal’ or ‘high’. But specific numbers…
The bitrate is not only software dependent but also hardware dependent, so I doubt it can be easily adjusted in the source code alone.
The K7 cannot actually be compared to the K5. They both use different video sensors. The K5 can produce 4K video, the K7 a maximum of 2K.

Hopefully by trying different settings you can get better image quality.

I mounted the ThirdEye radar unit in almost the same place (K1600GT).
The radar unit is mounted almost horizontally, so not at the recommended angle of 10 degrees. I feel that vehicle detection works even better. But I have no concrete evidence that this is actually the case, it remains a feeling.

Unfortunately the old forum is no longer active. The content of this old forum has not been transferred to the new forum. This is because the new platform runs on a different system than the old platform.

I suspect you are looking for information on how to connect the K2 to a computer using a web browser. Fortunately, I have saved some information from the old forum. So hopefully the below is what you’re looking for (thanks to Frostie).

K2 connectie met laptop

Using a Laptop would be the easiest way.

Connect your laptop to the K2 by wifi and open a web browser. Then enter the following URL to check you are connected.

http://192.168.1.254

You should then see a simple website, which gives you access to the sd card of the K2. If you see this page, you are ready to send commands.

Before changing the brightness, you should stop recording first. Just enter.

http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=2001&par=0

Now you can change the brightness, using this command.

http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=2005&par=X

…with X ranging from 0 (lighter) to 12 (darker). Default is 6.

So entering e.g. http://192.168.1.254/?custom=1&cmd=2005&par=12 will set the K2 to the darkest brightness setting.

Now restart recording by entering

To check the result, you can directly download the recorded videos on the website. Before doing this, you should again stop recording by entering the URL mentioned above.

So the steps are.

The K2 will revert to default brightness when it reboots.

I think the K3’s Timelapse works a little differently. No frames are skipped but the frame rate is reduced. This creates a video recording that appears to play faster when played back at a normal frame rate.

Do you play the videos in the app or on the computer with, for example, VLC player? Does the problem occur both in the app and on the computer?

The purple image is clearly due to a camera problem. This could be a bad connection, try disconnecting the camera connectors and reconnecting them. This will clean the contacts a bit.

It may also have been caused by the camera cable being mounted too tightly. Vibration of a cable that is mounted too tightly can cause cable breakage.

Also check whether the rubber rings are present in the connectors of the cameras. These keep the connectors watertight.

To rule out that it is the DVR, you can swap the front and rear cameras. If the problem moves along, you know for sure that it is the camera and not the DVR.

Hi Alex,
If the blue LED on the power supply flashes, I suspect a power supply problem. See also the labeling of the power supply. When starting up the K3, too much power is required which cannot be supplied. Can you also measure your battery voltage?
Can you power the K3 with a power bank via the USB connection? First disconnect the power supply. If this does not help, try to disconnect a part (behind camera, front camera, etc.) to see if one of these parts prevents the K3 from restarting.

You can watch videos directly from the K3 in the app. You must have an active WiFi connection with the K3. You can also download the videos to your phone first. You can then play them (later) from your phone in the app. But the fastest way to watch the videos is still to insert the SD card into your computer and then watch the videos.
